The Following is a psychological thriller about Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), a former FBI agent trying to catch a serial killer. Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) was captured by Hardy, who then wrote a book about it. Carroll escaped from prison as part of his plan to get revenge, surrounding himself with a group of like-minded people and turned them into fanatical killers. Carroll’s ultimate plan is to humiliate Hardy and murder Carroll’s ex-wife Claire (Natalie Zea), who also had a relationship with Hardy after Carroll was imprisoned.
