NBC has been busy airing brand new series this week. From the five scripted series that aired this week, three of them were new series, and just two were returning shows. The Mysteries Of Laura and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit both returned for another season, but neither of them are near the syndication threshold, so a renewal for either of the shows is not garantueed.
The new series are Blindspot, Heroes Reborn and The Player. Heroes Reborn is envisioned as a miniseries and a renewal for this show is not in the books. The Player’s debut was below par, but next week it will change from having the two hour Heroes Reborn lead-in to The Blacklist as its lead-in. Maybe this will shift the ratings in its favor, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Blindspot on the other hand got an excellent first adults 18-49 ratings with The Voice as its lead-in. Blindspot might become the first new show on NBC to earn a renewal prediction.
