In a not very surprising move, FOX has renewed its ratings juggernaut Empire for a third season. Not only did the show have spectacular and ever-increasing ratings in season 1 and held up impressively in season 2, it also did very good at the Golden Globes last week. Empire was the only broadcast drama to be nominated in the ‘best series’ category, and Taraji P. Henson won ‘best performance by an actress in a drama series’ for her role as Cookie Lyon.
Empire‘s third season is expected to be less than the usual 22 episodes, just like it did in its first season, with 12 episodes, and its second season, which has 18 episodes. The show stars Terence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, and Trai Byers. Empire returns for the second part of season 2 on March 30th at 9/8c.
