CBS has renewed its flagship drama NCIS for two more seasons, taking the show into 2018 and through a 15th season. Series star and executive producer Mark Harmon has also signed on to stay with the JAG spin-off for two more years.
Even in its 13th season and with nearly 300 episodes to date (#300 airs on March 15th), NCIS is one of the few series that manage to get ratings in the range between 2.0 and 3.0 in adults 18-49 and a total viewer count of 16 to 18 million for every single episode. In fact, the series low rating in adult 18-49 is a 2.0, which is very impressive for such an old series.
NCIS joins The Big Bang Theory as the only CBS series that have already been renewed for the 2016-17 season. The Big Bang Theory is two seasons into a three-season deal ending in May 2017.
