Freeform, formerly ABC Family, has decided to end its Peabody award-winning series Switched At Birth. The show will conclude after its upcoming fifth season, which also includes the series’ 100th episode. The 10-episode season five will end with a special 90-minute swan song.
Series creator Lizzy Weiss announced the news herself on Twitter:
This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude.

Switched At Birth tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano) grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc), who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working-class neighborhood.
It is currently unknown when the fifth and final season of Switched At Birth will premiere, other than that it will be somewhere in 2016.
