In the wake of several moves that have troubled the water around these shows, ABC has decided to cancel both Castle and Nashville.
After leading lady Stana Katic and longtime co-star Tamala Jones were cut from Castle, and a new contract was signed with star Nathan Fillion, expectations were that the series would be renewed for one more (short?) final season. It didn’t get that far though, as ABC has pulled the plug on the show. Its current season finale and de facto series finale (with some prepared alternate-ending scenes swapped in) will air this Monday, May 16th at 10/9c.
Similarly, a lot has happened to Nashville this season, including the medical leave of co-star Hayden Panettiere, and a change in showrunners for a potential fifth season. A fifth season was not in the cards for Nashville, though, and its season 4 finale that will air on Wednesday, May 25th at 10/9c will now serve as the show’s series finale.
