In a single move, FOX has renewed and cancelled its long-running crime procedural Bones. The show has been renewed for a final season to air in the 2016-17 season. This final 12th season of Bones will be a short one, consisting of 12 episodes. This brings Bones‘ total episode count to 246.
Show stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz have both signed new contracts for the swan song of the series. This despite the fact that they are both suing FOX for profits that they are aledgedly owed.
This move by FOX allows the creators of the show to make for a satisfying conclusion. Bones returns from its hiatus on Thursday, April 14th at 8/7c.
