FOX Predictions: The X-Files Renewed, The Grinder and Bordertown Cancelled

The X-Files concluded its limited-run revival this week with very solid ratings that FOX is not used to seeing anymore, save for Empire. Although a renewal for The X-Files would largely depend on the willingness and schedules of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, FOX will likely push for a renewal in whatever way possible. It will definitely not be for a full season, and it may take a while before the new episodes hit the airwaves, but The X-Files is a Likely Renewal.

The Grinder and Bordertown are FOX’ lowest rating comedies. Bordertown started out OK but has dropped off to 0.7’s in the all-important demographic, while The Grinder has been struggling for a while and has been FOX’ lowest-rating comedy for every single episode it has aired in 2016 so far. Both shows are Likely Cancellations.

In the meantime, long-running police procedural Bones has been renewed for a 12th and final season. That’s a renewal and a cancellation at the same time, and will leave a procedural void for the 2017-18 season. Will Rosewood be able to fill that void, or will FOX order itself even more new police procedurals this pilot season?
