NBC Predictions: Superstore is Renewed, Telenovela stays behind
By Daniel Redford on February 28, 2016
Other recent Renewals and Cancellations on NBC:
- NBC Predictions: Crowded and The Carmichael Show off to a good start (March 20th)
- NBC Renews Little Big Shots after 2 episodes (March 15th)
New comedy duo Superstore and Telenovela both concluded their first seasons this week. For Superstore, which has been doing solidly in the ratings, a renewal announcement from NBC immediately followed. Telenovela has not been equally lucky; what does that mean for the show’s future? Telenovela’s ratings have been a lot lower than Superstore’s, and the fact that the shows were not renewed together does not bode well for the show. Telenovela is a Certain Cancellation.
Those who are still delusionally thinking that The Player stands any chance of getting a renewal are having a rough week. After production on the show was shut down midway through filming the ninth episode (of a total of thirteen that had been ordered), show star Philip Winchester has now found himself a new job and booked a role on NBC pilot Chicago Law. The Player really is dead.
