CBS has finally pulled the trigger on the future of Criminal Minds by renewing it for a twelfth season.
Most other well-performing CBS series were already renewed back in March, and Criminal Minds is CBS third-highest rating series in the all-important Adults 18-49 demographic. Still, the jury remained out on Criminal Minds for financial reasons, as the aging show has become very pricey for the network.
Over the past few months, CBS has been negotiating a lower license fee for the procedural, also including the recent loss of original cast member Shemar Moore.
The show’s spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders has not received an official decision yet, and the same holds for fellow freshmen Supergirl, Limitless, Code Black, Life In Pieces, and also for the always struggling CSI: Cyber.
