New ABC President of Entertainment Channing Dungey is certainly offering up some entertainment. After the network renewed two dramas earlier today, Once Upon A Time and Quantico, followed by two comedies, Fresh Off The Boat and The Goldbergs, it has now renewed eleven more series. Get ready for the rundown.
The most obvious of all is the Shonda Rhimes-produced TGIT block, and ABC has of course renewed all three of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder. The final drama that has been renewed for 2016-17 is Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
But then there is comedy, with three more renewals for Black-ish for a third season, and The Middle and Modern Family for eighth seasons.
In unscripted territory, Shark Tank, The Bachelor, Dancing With The Stars and America’s Funniest Home Videos will all be back in 2016-17.
What remains? Quite a lot, actually. The following shows have not been renewed yet. And now that so many others have, their chances may have shrunk by a lot. The shows are: Last Man Standing, Dr. Ken, Castle, Nashville, The Muppets, and midseason bridge shows Marvel’s Agent Carter, Galavant and American Crime. Check out our new Renewal and Cancellation predictions on Sunday to see which of those shows still stand a chance.
